Have you ever felt like your body was working against you?
Earlier this year, my health journey changed the way I viewed my body. Fear slowly replaced trust, and without realizing it, I started treating my body like the enemy.
In this episode, I'm sharing how that season changed me and why I'm learning that healing begins when we stop fighting our bodies and start caring for them instead.
❤️ Your body has been carrying you through more than you realize.

Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt like you didn't recognize the person looking back? Not because you look different, but because somewhere along the way you stopped trusting yourself. Maybe your body let you down. Maybe your health changed. Maybe fear took over. Whatever the reason, that trust was gone. Today I want to talk about what happens when fear changes the relationship you have with your own body and how I'm learning to trust mine again. Hey chicks, welcome back to the crazy chicken lady show. I'm Nicole, and if you're new here, I'm so glad that you found this little corner of the internet where we have real conversations about life. Today I want to share something that's been on my heart because I know I can't be the only one who's experienced it. Sometimes life throws things at us that completely changes how we see ourselves. For me, it was my health. Earlier this year, my body started doing things that didn't make sense. I was exhausted. And I don't mean girlfriend, the need for another cup of coffee tired. I mean sleeping eight to nine hours at night, waking up, and still needing a three-hour nap during the day. That just wasn't me. I had no appetite, food that I normally enjoyed didn't even sound good. I noticed physical changes that I couldn't explain, and before long, I found myself sitting in the doctor's office, having tests after test, just trying to figure out what was going on. If you've ever been through something like that, you know the hardest part isn't always the tests. It's the waiting. The waiting is where your mind starts creating stories. I can honestly tell you, fear is loud. It makes you question everything. Every ache, every pain, every little change. I found myself constantly wondering, is this something? Should I be worried? What if this means something is really wrong? I wasn't just losing trust in my health, I was losing trust in my body, and I didn't think I even realized it at the time. Eventually, I got my answers. Thankfully, they weren't the answers I had feared. I still have follow-up appointments, I still have things that need to be monitored, but something shifted in me, not overnight, and honestly, not because all my fear disappeared. It shifted because I realized something. For months I had been looking at my body like it had betrayed me, like it had somehow failed me. But when I really stopped and thought about it, my body hadn't been working against me at all. My body kept showing up every single day. It got me through work, it got me through appointments, it got me through sleepless nights. I carried me through every tear, every worry, every uncertain moment. It wasn't my enemy. It was doing everything it could to keep going. I remember the first day I decided to go for a walk again. Three miles, actually. Nothing crazy. But it felt like such a huge step. Not because of the distance, but because I was finally choosing to work with my body instead of being angry at it. When I started paying attention to what I was eating, not because I wanted to punish myself, not because I wanted to lose weight as fast as possible, but because I realized my body deserved fuel. It deserved nourishment, it deserved strength. Then I started lifting weights again. Little by little, I stopped asking, why did my body do this to me? And started asking, how can I take care of the body that's carried me through so much? I don't know what your story is. Maybe it has nothing to do with your health. Maybe your body has changed after children. Maybe you're recovering from surgery. Maybe you're living with chronic pain. Maybe you've simply spent years criticizing yourself every single time you've looked in the mirror. Wherever you are, I hope you'll remember this. Your body is not your enemy. It has been carrying you through every hard day you've ever faced. Maybe today is the day you stop fighting it and start taking care of it. As you go through this week, I want you to think about two questions. Have you ever stopped trusting your body? And what's one small step you can take toward trusting it again? Maybe it's going for that walk. Maybe it's choosing nourishment over punishment. Maybe it's simply speaking to yourself with a little more kindness. Whatever it is, start there. Before we wrap up, it's time for the egg of the week. If you're new here, the egg of the week is simply one thought, one reminder, or one little nugget of encouragement that I hope you'll carry with you throughout the week. This week's egg of the week is this. Your body is listening to the way you speak about it. Every time you choose grace over criticism, every time you nourish it instead of punish it, every time you celebrate what it can do instead of focus on what it looks like, you're rebuilding trust. And trust isn't rebuilt overnight. It's built one choice, one walk, one workout, one meal, one kind thought at a time. And I hope you'll carry that with you this week. Thank you so much for spending part of the day with me. If this episode encouraged you, I'd love for you to share it with someone who might need this reminder too. And if you're enjoying the crazy chicken lady show, I'd be so grateful if you'd leave a review. It helps more people discover the show and join our growing community. Until next time, take care of yourself, give yourself grace, and remember you are stronger than you cluckin' think.
